Those of us in Birmingham who are watching the Scrushy travesty close up are not surprised to see the detail in which he has prepared his smear campaign, ready to instantly unleash on the first paid-off stooge who blew the whistle on him. Curious that Scrushy’s legendary degree of micromanagement is evident here, yet his fingerprints could not be detected on the massive HealthSouth fraud scheme, which was carried out by a cadre of upper level executives, without giving the CEO an inkling.
