Lynne Stewart/Hofstra furor

by Walter Olson on October 5, 2007

I’ve got a new piece up at City Journal (a slightly different version appears in today’s New York Post) on the controversy over the disbarred lawyer’s role as designated faculty at the upcoming Hofstra legal ethics conference. Thanks for links to Instapundit, NRO “The Corner”, Brothers Judd (cross-posted from Point of Law).

Speaking of the hyper-politicization of law schools and the criminals who teach there, Northwestern has on staff one Bernardine Dohrn, whose bio omits her high-level association with the terrorist Weathermen group in the 1960’s and her time spent time running as a fugitive.

She’s now referred to as a “child advocate.” That’s like summing up Stalin by calling him a “seminarian.”

That’s ok, Bernardine has a great Wikipedia page outlining her clandestine operations against the U.S. Government.

A comment from Prof. Freedman, just put up today at the Legal Ethics Forum, now states that no CLE credit will be given for Lynne Stewart’s portion of the conference:
