Wow. I did criminal defense for a number of years, and have spent a fair amount of time visiting clients in state and federal pens. The difference between minimum and medium security in the federal system is huge. Many minimum-security prisons aren’t even surrounded by wire or fences. Medium-security pens are real live prisons, and you’re surrounded by a whole different class of people. He’s doing hard time now.
