The thing that continues to stun me — beyond the idiocy of the law itself — is the timing. People everywhere are out of work, and people who still have jobs are often suffering in some way financially — often substantially. What better time to put the kibosh on all the people who want to make and sell sock puppets to make ends meet — or in my neighbor’s case, to sell children’s games made out of organic cotton with silkscreened patterns and wood pieces? And yes, that’s organic cotton from the cotton plant and wood pieces from the trees, not from the lead mine. And it’s the same silk-screening you’d have on a t-shirt.
