Re: the homeowner shot by the cops while holding the real perp at gunpoint. This has never seemed like a good situation, inviting the cops to your home while you must continue to have a gun in your hand, lest the perp does something bad. Only thing to do is put a few slugs in him ASAP, set down the weapon, and rehearse the line, ‘he started toward me and I was in fear of my life’.
