Allegations of $2,000 in an envelope, constant requests for cash, false financial filings, and much else besides, figure in the House impeachment proceedings against a Louisiana jurist. [ABA Journal]

He can be impeached and then run for, and win a congressional seat just like Alcee Hastings!

That’s why the impeachment resolution will specifically disqualify him from holding any office under the United States, as well as removing him from his current office. This disqualification had always been implicit in impeachments, until Hastings won his seat in Congress after being impeached from the bench.

Billy’s impeachment carried a similar provision.

Thanks PKO. It made me kind of sick that an impeached judge could become a congress critter with all it’s resultant perqs.
