It may not have done any good as far as increasing tolerance levels between groups but it probably helped fend off lawsuits and/or expedited settlements. The motives of diversity just seem to be disingenuous, just look at the sequence: A) Identify and segment groups; B) Draw attention to the differences; C) Tell everyone they better not comment on the aforementioned differences; D) Discipline those who disobey. I can see why this has been such a successful endeavor.
