“Did 16 Law Schools Commit Rankings Malpractice?”

How far will law deans go in search of higher U.S. News ratings? According to one commenter, “some law schools deliberately hire their own unemployed third year students — to work in the alumni office, as research assistants to professors, etc.” — to boost their “employed on graduation” numbers. • Hey, I actually have one of those jobs!

  • I wouldn’t call it malpractice or even fraud. I would call it rationally responding to a (stupid) incentive.

  • Actually, I really like that idea. There was a case in NY a year or two ago where a student who had gone to trade school was trying to sue said school because they inflated their numbers and she was had not been able to find work. I’m not opposed to new graduates getting a little help now and then.
