Given the anti-police sentiment in Oakland–they’ve all but declared war on the Police there–this may not be such a foolish lawsuit, tactically. He stands a good chance of winning with a jury full of Oakland plaintiffs.

There was an incident back in March 2009 where 4 Oakland police officers were shot, 3 of them killed. Nearly every African American blog, and many African American leaders said that “they got what they deserved”.

Oakland residents even had a march in support of the cop-killer:

When we have a Justice Department that stifles a case of blatant voter intimidation by the Black Panthers in Philadelphia I fear that the example has been set, giving the green light to thugs to attack non-minority victims and mass quantities of money to be given to them should their intended victims fight back.

Somebody sued that SD cop who plugged the crazy guy driving an M-60 tank on the freeway after crushing unknown number of cars. So why not?
