Allstate advances “Toyota sudden acceleration” narrative

We know some consumer reporters can be easy marks for overhyped scare stories. But what excuse does a giant insurance company has for trying to knock spare change out of an automaker by endorsing the scare theories in a subrogation suit? It looks as though Allstate has three million excuses. Insurance companies are as happy as the plaintiffs’ bar to endorse junk science or overhyped media scare stories when its their money on the line.

They’re not people, and they don’t have a conscience. All that they have is a more than finely tuned propensity to balance risk against gain. So thank you for asking the question, one that happy Toyota owners, and people who oppose junk science and overhyped media scare stories generally, may wish to consider when shopping for insurance.
