Gun-safety instructor who shot himself sues over leaked video

by Walter Olson on February 8, 2011

A judge has dismissed a privacy claim by a gun instructor who shot himself during a safety demonstration; video of the incident later turned up at The Smoking Gun and elsewhere. [Lowering the Bar; compare the Fountain Lady's video-privacy grievance.]

The only person who would reasonably have a claim would be the video shooter (not the gun shooter). This person has a video that could have had some commercial value, not quite to the level of the Zapruder film, but still some potential on America’s Funniest or something of the like. And due to the leak they have been denied the opportunity to capitalize on having shot the shooting.
As for the agent, he should be feeling lucky to have a job at all, and not go shooting his mouth off about it.

Somebody should sue the fools who wasted taxpayers’ money by hiring this moron.
