Yuba City bribes George Louie to go away

by Walter Olson on October 19, 2012

The Northern California municipality will pay notorious serial ADA filer George Louie $15,000 in exchange for which he promises not to sue any more businesses within town limits, and drop current suits in that category. Of course he’ll go elsewhere instead. [CBS Sacramento, Sacramento Bee, Lowering the Bar] On Louie’s background, see this 2003 post.

And they’ve just issued a call to all of Louie’s clones that they are a soft touch. A pity that our schools don’t teach Kipling any more. Perhaps if they had read “Dane-geld” they might have seen what they are inviting.

there is a reason you never pay kidnappers or blackmailers

Once you pay the Danegeld, you’ll never be rid of the Dane.

Between Ledbedder and the ADA, business are realizing:

1. Don’t hire the Handicapped or Women
2. Don’t have any retail operations

That’s going to be the way the world works in 10 years. Everything will come in via Amazon truck, and only able-bodied male Americans will have jobs, and only the jobs that can’t be offshored.

Mr. Louie can simply claim that the lawsuits are compulsive on his behalf and therefore any attempt by the city to enforce the agreement is itself a violation of the ADA.

Damn! First comment and you sniped my reference to Danegeld! :-)

Oh well, you snooze you lose.

They’ll be overrun with “Danes” now.

From a behavioral psychology perspective, Yuba City has given reinforcing positive feedback and loud notice to every scam artist in the Western World: “Free money here! Come on up to Yuba City. We are the biggest suckers in California!”

Wait for Mr. Louie to set up seminars on how to blackmail California municipalities. Fun and profit for everyone!
