“Passengers on a flight from France to Mauritius have filed suit against Air France after musician Bonnie Tyler performed a song at the request of the co-pilot. … The complaining passengers reportedly claimed they were traumatized by the experience and had feared for their safety during the celebration.” (“Passengers complain after Tyler sings”, UPI, Sept. 3). Flyertalk pages us (Sept. 5) and David Lat also notes the case (Sept. 6).

Wimps.
Thank goodness it was only Bonnie Tyler! Can you imagine the “traumatization” if it had been, say, 50 Cent or Eminem?
As long as she wasn’t singing to the autopilot who cares? I think this shows how much effect that the media’s treatment of aviation has on some people. Every incident involving an aircraft is treated as a dire emergency by the media. A 747 has an engine cutting up and makes a normal, uneventful landing because of safety regulations is treated like the plane was in danger of falling out of the sky. That the plane could fly safely around the world on three engines is never mentioned.
bonnie was doing the right thing in my opian shes a great singer. glad she sang those people shoild have been thankfull free show,
I’m not sure that I understand exactly why they were “terrified?”
Granted, I haven’t heard Bonnie sing in like 20 years, but I doubt that she’s gotten that bad…
Now, if it had been Bonnie RAITT singing about nuclear power, I’d understand the dismay . . . .
