The New Republic, like the Washington Monthly before it, is hyping this newly hatched groupuscule which aims to woo gun owners into an anti-NRA coalition. Trouble is, it’s a bit of an uphill slog convincing people you’re all for private gun ownership when your executive director played an active role on the plaintiff’s side in the lawsuit campaign against the firearms industry (see Jun. 29). (Michael Blanding, “Gun crazy”, The New Republic, Sept. 4). Cam Edwards has the details (Aug. 30).

  • Wow, thanks for the link Walter! I read you guys every day (and plug the site often on the show), so this was a pleasant surprise.

  • I thin it is wonderful that a pro gun, anti industry attorney is doing this. The gun industry could take many steps to ensure their guns don’t end up in the wrong hands, but it would be bad for the bottom line so they don’t. Oh, and they enjoy liability protections no other compnay does. For example, there could a lock on the safety that only the owner can unlock. Or how about a waiting period and background check? The gun industry is the worst in the world, second only to tobacco. As a gun owner, I would certainly join this group, as would most owners I know.
