Broderick Lloyd Laswell suit: I’m only getting 3000 calories a day

413-pound Broderick Lloyd Laswell was arrested for robbing and murdering Randy Walker and setting Walker’s trailer home on fire, and has been kept in an Arkansas jail cell awaiting a capital trial. Eight months later, he’s down to 308 pounds, but he’s not grateful for the diet, and has sued for “hot meals” and more consistent portions. [AP/Arkansas Online, Apr. 27; Northwest Arkansas Morning News, Apr. 25 via ABA blog] Needless to say, the blogosphere isn’t impressed. (Update: Smoking Gun has court documents and mug shots.)

  • Someone’s going to make a lot of money selling “Arkansas Prison Diet” to rich white women.

  • A whole new meaning to the term, “The Biggest Loser.” I always jump at an opportunity to employ double entendre.

  • Only in America can a 308 lb. inmate consider himself “starved to death”.

  • If he murdered your parent or child or cousin or what not, would you want him to feel good and fine and dandy in jail. i know i sure wouldn’t, I’d want him to feel every inch of pain that I’d be in. jail is supposed to be FRIGGEN HARSH if we make it a damn (use your imagination on dictation of words for this, somewhere in-between horrible words and ect.) party than would you think that he would want to murder again? that’s why the crime rate is going up the (more fancy language I can’t say here) roof! they kill someone and get it easy for the rest of their life! it’s a win win for them, if you kill someone or rape someone you should be put to the harshest of extents by all means. even if their a psycho crazy path and they murdered someone they should feel pain, many levels of pain, ‘cuz their victims are sure as hell hurt, hell they can’t even wake up the same way every morning. This isn’t a pity party where the murders and rapist and pedophilia get it easy when the victims have to live with this crap for the rest of there life’s. If this court goes through and feed’s him his junk food and extra 20,000 calories a day then they have issues and need to rethink their priorities. What happened to scaring people into NOT HURTING PEOPLE, the French have the right idea, only that may be a bit to harsh maybe that on a smaller scale. America is crap with crime, if you can’t even deal with it how are you going to prevent it? And believe me I live here in America I know.
