“The parents of an 8-year-old boy who died after his grandfather fired a cannon that exploded at an outdoor Fourth of July celebration in 2007 have filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Thurston County.” [The Olympian; KOMO; earlier]

Severed aorta?
Unless that kid was in the OR, with his chest already open, there’s likely little that could have been done to save his life.
Am I the only resident of Washington that’s sick of the reference “Washington State” when referring to the northwestern most state of the lower 48?
Hello…..I live in Washington, not Washington State. When you want to refer to the nations capital, call it by it’s proper name – the District of Columbia, or Washingon City or Washington DC.
Grumble, grumble, grumble at the east coast types……may as well call it New Jersey State, or Virginia State, New Hampshire State, Pennsylvania State, Colorado State, California State……….
Oh yeah – They should be suing the stupid grandfather if anyone. Yet another deep pockets grab for money to make themselves feel less worse than they alread do about losing the child.
Man is this family getting tiresome. First it’s the emergency response system, now the county. How about the foundry that made the cannon, the company that dug the ore for the metal, the maker of the explosive compounds used (not certain whether this was carbide or powder used in this case)…
But we all know it could not have been the fault of someone who actually set the damn thing off. Perhaps it is just one of those things, an accident, and no fault at all.
I’m pretty sure Great White had something to do with this, why aren’t they named as co-defendants?
Actually Virginia is a Commonwealth, not a State.
Sorry. Couldn’t resist. I can relate as I get ticked off at anybody saying “Carolina” like my state and South Carolina are one big state.
