  • He has a point. If people of other religions can wear their garments, why shouldn’t he be able to? I don’t see what makes the church of Jedi any less valid than any other religion.

  • “I don’t see what makes the church of Jedi any less valid than any other religion.”

What about the church of poot sniffing? The church of silly walks?

Quite possibly the most legitimate descrimination existing is descrimination against idiodic behavior. That should never be a cause of action.

  • Sure, legitimize those too. Fine with me. And maybe when it goes far enough, we’ll all come to our senses one day, and we’ll progress to a more rational/scientific society.

  • No we won’t, Abby.

    Bob

  • So, um, the Jedis are like the shakers, believing that all sex is bad, even in the context of marriage, right? um, no? So why are they celebate then?

Oh, it isn’t up to them. Okay.

I used to be convinced that jediism was sort of a performance art of the absurd designed to mock diversity. then about a year ago, i realized that these idiots were sincere. You would have thought that The Phantom Menace would have showed them that they were worshipping a false idol, but oh well. Look we all loved Star Wars, and Empire, and to a lesser degree Return, and well, things went downhill from there, but seriously, get a life.

And whether they meant to or not, it exposes the problems that crop up when we go from saying freedom of religion is freedom of opinion, to freedom of action. To be blunt, i don’t think the founders thought this thing through, and we are stuck with muddling through a concept where bright lines are needed, but we are stuck with mushy middles because of the nature of the beast.

Oh, and as for Abby, atheism kills, too, and for equally stupid reasons. I know it is fashionable to believe that if religion was eliminated that all the stupid reasons for killing each other would go away. No, more than likely we would find new stupid reasons to kill each other. Its just how we are as a species.

And I know it is fashionable to say that religion is all bad. i mean why good has christianity ever inspired? i mean besides the fact that the abolitionist movement represented the first time in human history that a class of people who were not enslaved, advocated and achieved the abolition of slavery, and that the abolitionist movement was dominated by evangelical christians? besides that, what good has religion ever done. well, that and the declaration of independance. And the civil rights act of 1964. And the voting rights act of 1965. Oh, and modern support for isreal against the remorseless terrorists and genocidal idiots who would kill every man, woman and child living there who happened to be considered jewish. I mean besides being opposed to a repeat of the holocuast, the civil rights act of 1964, the voting rights act of 1965, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the constitution, the emancipation proclamation, and the revolution and declaration of independance, what good has faith ever done for us?

[And yes, I am riffing off of “The Life of Brian” with its bit “what good have the romans ever done for us?” bit.]

  • May the farce be with you!

  • LOL

If he’s such a Star Wars fan, then surely he remembers all the scenes where the Jedi have their hoods down.

Now get back in your parents’ basement.

  • Only the Emperor insisted on having his hood up. Although he was a Sith or an evil Jedi.

  • If he were really a Jedi, couldn’t he have just used the Force on them and made them see his side?

“These aren’t the robes you are looking for.”

  • “If he were really a Jedi, couldn’t he have just used the Force on them and made them see his side?”

He shouldn’t have to. Besides, the Jedi Mind trick is known to the State of California to cause cancer.

  • If he were really a Jedi, couldn’t he have just used the Force on them and made them see his side?

The Jedi Mind tricks only work on the weak-minded. Oh, wait, why can’t we use them on the liberals? 🙂
