That article about the HOAs is a kicker. These associations are far, far overstepping their bounds.
Ted Frank pointed out to me that motorcycles had mortality rates 25 times higher than cars. The heavy man with the heavy wife who used his motorcycle in a novel way – I never saw a motorcycle pull a tailor. – assumed a risk that required no warning whatsoever.
It sometimes happens that people, including engineers, assume that various items are over-engineered and try to take advantage of safety margins.
