I’ve got a new opinion piece up at the Daily Caller on the USDA’s new nutritional chart. And tune in to C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Eastern when I’m scheduled to be a guest on this subject.

I prefer the food pyramid, regardless of what they say. It put fat at the apex, the top, where it belongs! No fat, no flavor.
There have actually been multiple food pyramids. Earlier versions, such as the one you’re thinking of, were not that bad. The really awful one is the version in use 2005-2011, with a rainbow and a set of stairs. I probably should have made that clear in my piece.
Draftees for World War II had a disturbing percentage of malnutrition. Having fit soldiers is a matter worthy of governmental intervention, along with an attempt to lessen health care needs. The actual problem is with the merit of the intervention. Second hand smoke, trans fats, and salt are so unscientific as to be mystical in nature. Mayor Bloomberg and Mrs. Obama are well meaning and beloved tyrants.
I vote for a 7-dimensional Food Space.
