My grocery local store has a similar sign imploring us, for floor safety reasons, not to try to make a smaller bag of grapes from a bigger bag of grapes. We are instructed to ask for help from an employee to move grapes from one bag to another.
Or just do what rational grocery store managers do–put a big trash can next to the sweet corn. People are going to shuck the corn anyway to ensure they don’t get a rotten ear.

“Due to slip and fall issues…”
Translation: “Due to slip and fall lawyers…”
Do they sell this by the pound? If so, that’s a clever way to make people pay more.
@Dave Eggers: No, as the sign says, the corn is being sold by the ear, at 5/$4.00(Canadian).
