Amtrak crash: #toosoon to trawl?

From attorney Larry Bodine’s Twitter account, two hours after last night’s crash of Amtrak’s Northeast Regional outside Philadelphia that left six dead and more than 65 injured:

  • No question about it, this crap gives all lawyers a bad name. While done by a very small minority of people, it is often the bad stuff that people remember.

    Side note: The new universal bar exam will worsen the situation unless ethics committees crack down on those who outsource their ethics to these marketing companies.

  • One more note. While the practice might not breach ethics rules in PA (but still be scummy) , it doesn’t appear to be ethical in NY. And many of the victims were likely headed to NY and will likely call NY attorneys. Others may contact local counsel directly.

    This is a bit of Wild West stuff going on, since there aren’t an abundance of ethics opinions (in NY, where it isn’t allowed) on the subject.
