Seattle picking the Teamsters to be the union is ironic to the core. It was the place where the infamous Dave Beck got his start on his way up the ladder to President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where he led the union on the path of corruption. He lost to Jimmy Hoffa in 1957, who continued the Beck path to perdition. While Beck led the Seattle Teamsters, in negotiations with an employer represented by my late father, Christopher W. Hoey, he once took a spent 45 caliber slug out of his pocket, dropped it in front of my dad and said, “They pulled this out of the ass of the last guy who said no to me!”
