  • The sad part is taht almost none of the information that makes this “case” a farce and a miscarriage of justice is new.

With the exception of the drop of the actual rape charge (and the other two have the proverbial snowball’s chance without it) and the revealing testimony from the DNA guy (about his colusion with the DA to hide esculpatory evidence), all of the information that makes this case so stunningly obvious has been available and public knowledge literally for months.

The wheels of justice are turning so slowly, I wonder if they are turning at all in this case… if anything resembling justice is even possible at this point.

Just for starters, the accuser and the DA should be go to prison for the maximum possible penalty for the charges brought against the three defendants.

Libel charges should be brought against the prosecutor and a large number of people at Duke. Since that is civil, it might actually happen.

  • Now that all of the facts are known, it is obvious that a rape did take place. The victim was Lady Justice and the culprit was Mike Niforg.

  • Why is it when cases like this happen, there’s no widespread call to “reform” the criminal justice system?

  • Justinian is trolling once again. Even aside from the Heritage Foundation’s Overcriminalized site, a nod to Walter’s success here, this website has a separate criminal reform section.

  • “Why is it when cases like this happen, there’s no widespread call to “reform” the criminal justice system?”

Oddly enough, there IS – why is it that you only hear what is convenient for you?

“Now that all of the facts are known…”

“Now”? The relevant facts have been known for months!

  • This case is very similar to the Tawana Brawley matter. Brawley’s false charges were made in November 1987. In 1998 Mr. Pagones, a victim of Mr. Sharton, was awarded $345,000. The best reporters around worked their butts off to find something to the story. As in the recent WMD problem with Miss Miller, the reporters desire to believe overwhelmed the facts that were well understood within a day or two.
